I already admitted that I’m not a professional fashion blogger. And, while I do buy lots of clothes, I am a bargain hunter so I really don’t spend big bucks on the clothing I buy. I do have some nice handbags and shoes, and some quality pieces for work, but when it comes to clothing to wear out and about, I search for (and sometimes stumble upon) deals.
Ah, summertime in Georgia. There are two things you can count on: heat and humidity. I really don’t mind the heat, in fact summer is my favorite season. For the most part, I don’t like wearing pants, so if I can wear shorts, skirts and dresses, I’m happy. I am not looking forward to fall and boots and sweaters. Sorry.
So, for a gal who loves shorts, skirts and dresses, I am absolutely in LOVE with rompers. Last summer I boldly stated that rompers were a “one season trend” and set about selling off mine on Poshmark. I was wrong. Oh, so wrong. Rompers are even hotter this summer than last, and now I’m hoping that they stay in for another season next year.
Here are a few ideas for a casual summer night out:
This beautiful black with floral print romper from Evie Rose Couture. I saw this romper on their Instagram feed and instantly fell in love. I immediately ordered it, and was so pleased when it arrived wrapped in cute tissue paper. Awesome boutique; check it out!
INC one-shoulder Pleasant Palms tropical print asymmetrical tank with O’Neill Juniors Scout ripped white denim shorts, both from Macy’s. I paired this with a pair of open toed nude colored wedge sandals.
Denim cutoff shorts are my absolute favorite summer piece. I love them because you can be ultra-casual in a tank and flops, or dress them up with a cute blouse and wedges, which is what I did here. American Eagle Tomgirl Shorts are super comfortable. They run a little big, so if you don’t like them a little loose size down. I have 2 pairs of these I love them so much. Can you believe I got this Forever 21 cropped boho blouse used, online from Poshmark for only $10? I wore my Indigo Rd wedges from DSW, and added my new Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski Penny Necklace and Earrings.
I know I said I don’t like to wear pants, but when you must go to a “casual” event for work, neither shorts nor a dress cut the bill. I chose these white jeggings from Kohl’s and paired them with this cute nude colored sleeveless funnel neck top. This is one of those items that has been hanging in my closet forever with the tags on. I picked it up last year from Beall’s Outlet, so I’m sure it’s no longer available, but I think blush or nude with white is such a hot look. I paired them with my absolute FAVORITE pair of shoes I picked up this year from Nordstrom’s. I saw these Jeffrey Campbell Rayos Perforated Wedge Sandals repeatedly on fashion bloggers and told myself over and over, “No, Theresa. They’re too trendy. You don’t need to spend $150 on something that will be a one-season thing.” I told myself that for a month before I finally gave in and bought them. And I get so many compliments every time I wear them. They’re cute with skinnies, shorts, skirts, rompers, and dresses – casual or dressy.
Cold Shoulder Tops were another item I thought would be a temporary trend, but they’ve really been big for the past 3 summers. I grabbed this BCX Juniors tangerine tiered off the shoulder top from Macy’s for just $14.99, and paired it with some khaki Merona shorts from Target. This exact top is no longer available at Macy’s, but BCX has several cute tops in similar styles, all reasonably priced. I wore the CUTEST wedges with this outfit, Mix No. 6 Jordie Wedge Sandal from DSW. This multicolor wedge brightens up any outfit, but to get the full effect you need to show them off (don’t let them hide under a pair of bootcut jeans!)
