Here is a super easy recipe that’s great for tailgating or to take to a party. It requires minimal prep, and about 20 minutes in the oven so it’s quick to fix. And, to make clean up easy, use a disposable foil pan.
French Onion Roast Beef Sliders
1 24-pack sweet Hawaiian rolls
¾ to 1 lb. deli roast beef slices
12 slices provolone cheese
1 cup French fried onions
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish sauce
2 tablespoons dry French onion soup mix
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
Carefully remove the rolls from the package, keeping them intact. Using a serrated knife, slice horizontally across the rolls to remove the “tops” of the buns, also keeping those intact. Place the bottom rolls in a large foil pan and spread the prepared horseradish thinly over the bottom buns (remember, a little goes a long way with this stuff!). Next, lay the roast beef slices evenly over the bottom buns, then top with the cheese slices. Sprinkle the crispy fried onions on top then carefully place the top buns over the sandwiches.
In a small bowl, whisk the dry soup mix, melted butter, and olive oil together, then stir in the sesame and poppy seeds (if desired). Using a basting brush, coat the top buns with the butter mixture – you may not use all of it, and that’s ok – use as much or as little as you like. Cover the pan with foil and place on the middle rack in a 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until heated through and the cheese is melted. Cut into individual portions with a sharp knife and serve.
